The Polish lady with three languid, dirty children rocking like Romanian orphans reaches out a greasy claw for change and a peach-bottomed black lady roars at her in indignation, Yu shul be gettin’ a job, not relyin’ on de state, teykin’ dese chillen on de street, yu shul be ashamed o yosel. Denzel, check out dissya ooman, shul be ashamed o hersel... on the W7 red-eyed men wearing paint spattered jeans yawn and a roar of old booze lurches insolently out with a slap and a cackle, a bored girl with too-tight jeans and a muffin top of white lard-like skin crawling like a slug over a rhinestone belt slaps a dummy in the mouth of a mewling child with green sleep pouring from the corners of his eyes, slimy trails of saliva chafing red angry skin, Crouch Hill and London drops away, just happy white couples clutching Sunday papers and Starbucks, thinking of eggs and toast and Monday morning and back home again…http://miminewyork.blogspot.com/2007/10/london-2007.html

Second San Diego Fire

For a second time San Diego fell under a fire storm from nearby deserts. Embers flew as far north as Santa Ana, Midway City, and Long Beach. I will not forget a certain warm October morning for a while. It was last Monday. As I stepped outside, I walked into a scorcher. It was 92 degrees Fahrenheit and windy and the air smelled like a bonfire.

I think of “The Loneliest Day of My Life” video clip. Los Angeles is a special city and has a feel incomparable to other places. It is a combination of industrial and rural, glamorous and obscure, beautiful and ugly, and exciting but lonely.

… for me at least. It is the only way for my ideas to stay in America. I have just found out that a corporation receives an instant US citizenship. No lengthy green card applications, intradepartmental paperwork exchanges and interviews are required. We are all going to leave something for others to remember or so we hope. I can leave a part of me that is American in the form of a corporation that can outlive me and my children. I can do it and I will. There are more benefits to it than just a piece of America and I need to find out what they are.

Family Gatherings that are good once every, say 7 years

Family gatherings are a substitute for an exciting social life to a lot of people. We go and then feel obligated to watch an alcoholic uncle make complete fool of himself while his wife apologizes and simultaneously throws off a nervous laugh of embarrassment and pity. It could even pass as funny but, unfortunately the repertoire is same every time. It just is a drunken slur (hear an example below)

to be frank, I haven’t missed him that much.

Another breed of drunks turns into sobbing tearful wimps who have a tendency to hug you for no justifiable reason. I do not know which breed is worse and I do not have a clip of such a nitwit.
